All Stars at Ocala

So its taking awhile to put up a quick blog about the results of the last weekend at Ocala as the bottle and bars were hit pretty hard this last weekend and the liver needed some time to recover.

Anyways, Tim Shaffer took the CH Motorsports #83 into victory lane on Friday after Thursday's rain out. Sounded like The Dude was going to challenge up front until the engine let go on the #33. After looking through the numbers, there wasn't much passing going on either. Congrats to the "Steel City Posse" member on the win, and he's my favorite to win the All-Star title as long as Guy Webb don't screw him over this year.

Friday night, it was the black and orange #24 finding victory lane after setting a legit qualifying time. McCarl led the entire race and won pretty handidly, as The Dude came home 2nd after making a late charge and was followed by Stevie Smith in the Zemco #1 for his 2nd straight 3rd place run at Ocala. T-Mac is still waiting to pass those kidney stones that detoured him to a LA hospital earlier in the week and makes the win that much more impressive. I watched the video on the website doing the live updates and it looked like a crappy track, but there were definitely 2 lanes to be run and it was all about throttle control and getting through lapped traffic.

This was McCarl's first win on the year, and will be the first of many, many to come with his 'true outlaw' schedule in 2009. It would be great to see him pick up at least one more win in Florida and pick up a couple more while followin the Outlaws out to Cali. I'm predicting a good 15+ wins on the year for the Big Game Treestand team.

I'll be doing an in-depth preview of Volusia's 6 nights of racing sometime on Tuesday, so continue to check on back for predictions and results!
