Tonight is the opener of the USAC/WoO Doubleheader for Las Vegas. The USAC shows of the past have been phenominal at the Dirt Track while the WoO shows haven't been anywhere as close to the USAC shows. I definitely would love to be out there for these two shows, but that is going to have to wait for another year as finances as a college student are starting to dwindle in a hurry. Any amount of guys can win tonight, and it should be interesting to see what Mr. McCarl does in his 5th career non-wing start!
The WoO returns to Vegas for the first time since the season finale in 2006 when Donny Schatz wrapped up his first WoO title in the family owned #15 at the time. I'm guessing there will be about 30-35 cars, way down from what it used to be back in the day for the 2 or 3 day Vegas shows. My guess is that Mr. Schatz picks up win #3 on the year at a track he was dominating before the WoO stopped heading to Sin City.
Check back for details on both nights of racing.
Tidbits: Roth Motorsports has hired the one and only Guy Forbrook to be crew chief for the DTR Transport #83JR. Don't know how long this will last, but one things for sure, TK will continue to be balls-to-the-wall with the hammer down.
The next WoO show following Vegas at Ocean Speedway has been postponed to the monsoon that has started to hit the West Coast. Hopefully this show can be put back into the schedule somewhere, and hopefully the Mini Gold Cup as well as the Tulare double-dip get don't see the R word along the way.
